Tym razem dowiemy się trochę o nowej firmie deskorolkowej, którą wystartował sam Pontus Alv.
Niestety wywiad nie jest tak długi jak poprzednie, wszystko z powodu tego, że Pontus jest bardzo zapracowany i nie miał czasu na dłuższą odpytkę.
Mimo wszystko myślę, że warto się dowiedzieć trochę o jego firmie – Polar Skate Co.

Skateaffair.pl: Co zainspirowało Cię do odpalenia Polar, jaka jest myśl przewodnia Twojej firmy?
Pontus Alv: Myślałem o stworzeniu własnej firmy odkąd opuściłem cliché, ta myśl towarzyszyła mi od wielu lat. Zawsze myślałem o tym jak chciałbym, żeby wyglądała firma deskorolkowa i co sobą reprezentowała. Moje ambicje są wysokie, chcę żeby Polar było kreatywną, inspirującą platformą dla skejtów, która będzie inspirowała innych do zainspirowania siebie samych. Czuję, że deskorolkowa kultura oraz przemysł są dziś martwe, zgniłe. Chcę coś z tym zrobić. Przynajmniej spróbować stworzyć alternatywę wielkich zawodów, energy drinków i innych ogromnych komercyjnych rzeczy. Po prostu nie mogę znieść widoku jak największa miłość mojego życia zwyczajnie gnije bez próby zrobienia czegoś z tym…Moje poprzednie filmy to był taki start pokazywania alternatywnej drogi, teraz chcę kontynuować tę drogę z Polar Skate Co. Chcę wyrazić siebie na każdym poziomie; grafiki na deskach, filmy oraz inne kreatywne projekty, które mogą zainspirować innych.

Skateaffair.pl: Jakie produkty są w ofercie Polar i jakie są planowane?
Pontus Alv: Na chwilę obecną mamy deski oraz koszulki. Będą też czapki typu beanie i inne tekstylia. Chcę wyprodukować więcej desek o nietypowych kształtach, jedną taką już wypuściliśmy. Została ona nazwana P1, inspirowana jest wczesnymi latami ’90. Mam cała masę pomysłów na fajne, wyjątkowe produkty ale nie chcę o tym mówić…W tym przemyśle wielu ludzi kradnie pomysły i kopiuje to co dobre. Więc jak na razie wszystko zostaje w siedzibie Polar…
Wspomniana deska typu P1. Jak widać po podpisie jest to jej druga wersja dopasowana do oczekiwań klientów.
Skateaffair.pl: Kto Jeździ dla Polar? Słyszałem, że Michał Juraś dołączył do waszego teamu. To oznacza, że Michał już nie jest w teamie 5BORO, mam rację? Jaka jest historia za kulisami Michała w waszym teamie?
Pontus Alv: Tak to prawda, że mr Michał Juraś dołączył do teamu Polar, jest do wspaniała rzecz. Będziemy robili co w naszej mocy aby go wspierać i dać mu miejsce gdzie będzie mógł dorosnąć jako deskorolkowiec. Będzie jeździł z nami na toury, był w naszych filmach, artykułach, reklamach itd. Będziemy go mieć tam tak dużo jak to tylko możliwe. A historia jest taka, że jesteśmy przyjaciółmi i lubimy jeździć razem. Mamy podobne spojrzenie na wiele rzeczy i jest to całkiem naturalny ruch, że Michał dołączył do nas.
Pozostali członkowie teamu to: Hjalte Halberg z Kopenhagi, zadziwiający skejt, od którego zobaczymy dużo więcej w bliskiej przyszłości. David Stenström oraz Oskar Rozengren/Halberg to nasz junior team – obaj są dzieciakami niszczącymi wszystkie kąty, które postawisz przed nimi. Johan Linö-Waad i Jakob Ovgren, wymiatacze z Malmö w pełni terenowi skejci. Również ja jestem w teamie.
Skateaffair.pl: Kilka dni temu widziałem Twoje nagrywki w bonusach do Stay Gold, były one dość stare. Czasy filmu Garaż#3, czyż nie? Nadal dużo nagrywasz tak jak kiedyś?
Pontus Alv: Tak, są to naprawdę stare nagrywki. Nie chcę oddawać moich najlepszych klipów na jakąś tam sekcję bonusową na DVD. Moje najnowsze nagrywki były w moim ostatim filmie, In search of the miraculous. Nadal jeżdżę dużo – kilka razy w tygodniu i nadal jestem bardzo aktywny w kwestii nagrywania, robienia zdjęć itd. W chwili obecnej pracujemy nad czymś w rodzaju filmu Polar. Moim celem jest mieć w nim pełny part.
Skateaffair.pl: Czy produkty Polar będą dostępne w Polsce?
Pontus Alv: Pracujemy nad tym z moim kumplem Kubą ale tak, produkty Polar będą w Polsce na pewno. Musimy tylko dowiedzieć się, które sklepy są dobre i kto jest zajarany firmą. To dla mnie bardzo ważne, że interesuje Cię Polar i nasza filozofia. Nie chcę mojej firmy obrócić w kolejną firmę typu „McDonalds”. Ale krajobraz branży skejtowej bardzo się zmienił. Zmienił się w sklepy sieciowe, ogromne sklepy online itd. Małe, prawdziwe skateshopy to dziś rzadkość. Chodzi mi o sklepy, które obchodzi lokalna scena i skejci w mieście. Te sklepy powinny dostać całe wsparcie jakie tylko się da od deskorolkarzy oraz firm.

Skateaffair.pl: What inspired you to start Polar and what is Polar’s main idea?
Pontus Alv: I have been thinking about having my own company since I quit cliché the idea has been there for many years. I have been thinking about it forever what and how I want a skateboard company to be and represent. My ideas and visions are high I want it to be a creative inspiring platform for skateboarders that will inspire others to inspire themselves. I feel that the skateboard culture and industry these days are pretty rutten and dead and I want to do something about it. At least try to build up an alternative to energy drinks arena events and other huge commercial things. I can´t just stand and watch my biggest love in life just rutten without trying to do something about it…My two films was the start to show an alternative way now I want to continue that way with Polar Skate Co. I want to express myself of all levels skateboard graphics team videos and other creative fun projects that can show and inspire others…
Skateaffair.pl: What products are in polar’s offert, and what products are planned to be?
Pontus Alv: At the moment we have boards and t-shirts. There will be beanies caps and other textile stuff later on. I want to make more special shape boards we did one so far called P1 – inspired from the early 90-ties. I have tons of idea´s for cool special products but I don´t want to talk about it….A lot of people steal idea´s and copy good things in this industry…So I will keep it within the Polar Headquarter for now….
Skateaffair.pl: Who ride for Polar? I’ve heard that Michał Juraś joined the team. That means Michał is no longer on 5BORO, right? What’s the story behind Michał joining polar team?
Pontus Alv: Yes that is correct mr Michał Juraś joined the Polar team which is a wonderful thing. We will do everything we can to support him and give him a platform where he can show and grow as a skateboarder. He will come on tours be in our films, articles – ads etc. We will get him out there as much as possible. The story behind it we are friends and we like to skate together. We have the same kind of ideas on many things and it feels like a natural move that he joins us.
The other guys on the team is Hjalte Halberg from Copenhagen, amazing skater that we will se much more from in a near future – David Stenström and Oskar Rozengren/Halberg are the junior team – two amazing transition kids that kills any transition you put in front of them.

Skateaffair.pl: Few days ago, i saw your footage in emerica stay gold euro bonus. The footage was pretty old. Garaż#3 times, huh? Do you still film a lot like you used to?
Pontus Alv: Yes there are some real old footage in that Emerica thing – I don´t give away my new best stuff for some bonus section on a DVD. My newest stuff was inside my last film In search of the miraculous. I still skate a lot a few times a week and I am still very active filming skating taking photos etc. At the moment we are working on some kind of film for Polar. My goal is to have new full part in that one.
Skateaffair.pl: Will Polar products be avaiable in Poland?
Pontus Alv: We are working on it together with my friend Kuba but yes there will be products in Poland for sure. We just have to figure out what shops that are good and who is down for the company. For me it is really important that you care about Polar and it´s idea. I don´t want it to turn into another „macdonalds company” . But the skateboard industry landscape changed a lot it turned into chain stores huge online stores etc and the small core skateshops are hard to find these days. Shops that care about their scene and the skaters in their town. These shops should get all the support they can from skateboarders and companies.
